Meet Sage

As a disabled veteran who served in U.S. Army in Afghanistan, Sage has dedicated his life to public service. He's running to bring that record of service to the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency Board of Directors.

In 2006, Sage Rafferty graduated from the University of Montana with a BA in Political Science, specializing in American Politics with a Minor in Chinese Studies. After college, Sage attended the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School (OCS) and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Throughout his military career, Sage primarily managed maintenance and logistics. In 2013, he deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division, where he oversaw logistical operations in support of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade. Sage also attended various courses while in the U.S. Army, including Logistics Captains Career Course at Fort Lee, Virginia.
Sage served in the U.S. Army for almost 9 years, retiring at the rank of Captain in 2015. He then moved to Santa Clarita to start a career in manufacturing management. He has managed production, maintenance, and engineering, including wastewater recycling systems, throughout Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valley. Sage and his wife Meghan own a home in Saugus, where they live with their teenager, one dog, and three cats.
  • Climate change is an urgent and existential threat to public safety, our economy, and our national security. We need to act now.

As an Army veteran who helped to assess critical threats to our safety and security, I am acutely aware of the grave threat that climate change poses to our community, country, and planet. Already, we are living with the effects of climate change in LA County, and they are causing incredible harm.

We need to take water shortages seriously and take decisive and urgent action towards longterm solutions to ensure our community has access to clean, affordable water for many years to come.
